Research Requests
The ASRT Research Department is happy to assist prospective researchers who wish to conduct survey research in
medical imaging and radiation therapy. When submitting research requests, please keep in mind that the Research
Department’s primary function is to support ongoing ASRT operations. For this reason, the department may not be able
to assist with a research project.
Also the department will only assist with two proposals per quarter, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Here are the key guidelines for requesting Research Department assistance with distributing your survey.
You must submit all the following for your submission to be considered for distribution:
- A valid, current ASRT member ID. Only current ASRT members are eligible to receive assistance with
distributing their survey.
- Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval, if applicable. If you are doing research through an educational
institution, you must submit finalized IRB approval. Pending approvals will not be accepted.
- A cover letter soliciting participation in your survey.
- A copy of the survey instrument you plan to use in Microsoft Word or PDF format. If there are significant
alterations required before the department agrees to send the survey, you may be asked to submit a Word document
to facilitate editing.
- A live link to your survey. The live link must match the copy of the instrument you submit.
- Although it is not strictly necessary as part of your original proposal, it will be helpful if you indicate
the demographic you wish to sample. If your project is approved for distribution, you will need to reach an
agreement with the Research Department regarding the size and demographic makeup of the sample you wish us to
draw.
Please note that the Research Department may require you to modify your survey instrument or cover letter as a
condition for distribution.
Your survey must not:
- Be for commercial purposes. All surveys for commercial purposes should be routed through ASRT’s Corporate
Relations Department.
- Ask for any personally identifying information, such as name, membership ID number, social security number, etc.
- Otherwise collect information that would compromise participants’ anonymity.
Be sure that you review all the guidelines carefully prior to submitting any research request. Failure to adhere to
any of these guidelines is ground for immediate and unequivocal rejection of your proposal. It is also wise to
contact the Research Department prior to assembling a proposal to make sure that the department is currently
accepting proposals.
Once you have your proposal ready, you can email your request and supporting documents to [email protected]. You can expect a decision on your project within 10-14 business days.
If your proposal is not accepted, please remember that you can always reapply later. Also, keep in mind that the ASRT Foundation sponsors a variety of grants for aspiring researchers in the radiologic sciences that you may find helpful.
