ASRT Unveils New Commemorative Logo, Big Plans for Centennial Anniversary

Sep 10, 2019

ASRT: Leading the Profession Into the Next CenturyThe world’s largest radiologic science association is counting out 100 candles and making big plans for its anniversary in 2020. The American Society of Radiologic Technologists, founded in 1920, will mark its 100th birthday with a yearlong series of programs, initiatives and celebrations that pay tribute to the organization’s role in shaping the radiologic sciences and the dedicated professionals who perform medical imaging and radiation therapy procedures.

To heighten awareness of the ASRT Centennial, the Society designed a special commemorative logo that promotes ASRT’s rich history as well as its future. The new logo incorporates the iconic blue lower-case ASRT acronym and surrounds it with the figure “100.” Stylized waves and beams emanate from the logo as a depiction of the powerful, invisible energy sources used in radiologic procedures. The logo also highlights the Centennial theme, Leading the Profession Into the Next Century, which points to the association’s century-long focus on professional innovation and improvement.

ASRT Centennial initiatives include an expanded annual meeting and educational session in Albuquerque, New Mexico, June 24-28. The organization is also producing two extensively researched books on the history of ASRT, its state affiliate societies and the profession. In addition, members will experience new displays, exhibits and two new educational films at the ASRT Museum and Archives.

“It’s my honor to lead ASRT into this historic milestone year,” said ASRT President Stephanie Johnston, M.S.R.S, R.T.(R)(M)(BD)(BS), FASRT. “The positive impact our organization has made over the past century is undeniable. ASRT still leads the way in championing patient safety, spearheading high-quality education and improving the professional status of all medical imaging and radiation therapy personnel. I’m so proud to celebrate ASRT’s enduring legacy.”
