In response to our members' increasingly complex CE needs, ASRT has changed how we deliver your continuing education.

This change will ensure that you can meet your unique CE needs, no matter what state and certification requirements you face in the future.

What's Changed?

Effective Feb. 8, 2022

All members have access to our online CE Library filled with 550 Directed Readings, articles, and webcasts. This change ensures that all technologists can meet their specific CE requirements and preferences today and in the future.

From this point forward, all new Directed Readings will be published in our online CE Library and will no longer appear in the ASRT’s scientific journals.

Members who prefer to have printed Directed Readings mailed to their home may opt-in to the Directed Reading Supplement. Each edition contains six CE articles and is published twice annually.

What's New?

To ensure that members get the most benefit from this wide selection of content, the number of credits included with membership each year will increase from 16 to 17 CE credits.

Members have free access to our new Computed Tomography SEAL exams, with five 100-question practice tests for members preparing for the ARRT or NMTCB CT certification exams.

How Will ASRT's CE Plan Work?

You’ll gain access to a bank of 17 CE credits each membership year, 20 credits with the Premium Membership option. Any CE credits that you do not use by the end of your membership year automatically roll over to the next membership year if you maintain continuous membership.

Redeem your credits in our online CE Library of 550 courses, or to sign up for our monthly ASRT Live® webcasts.

Choose articles and webcasts based on topics, including radiography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance, mammography, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, radiation safety, patient care and many more.

After completing the content, take an online quiz to immediately earn CE credits which are automatically tracked and reported to the ARRT, NMTCB, MDCB and ARDMS.

Credits are deducted from your bank as you earn CE.

The credit value of the Directed Readings in your account will roll into your new bank of CE credits.
You’ll gain access to 17 additional CE credits each membership year. If the transition to the new CE model takes place outside your normal renewal cycle, the number of additional credits added to your account is prorated for each month remaining in your current membership year.
All our CE courses can be accessed through your online CE Library. This includes all the Directed Readings that were previously available in your account.
You will be able to access new articles as soon as they are published, without waiting for the journals to arrive.

What This Means for Your ASRT Journals

ASRT will continue to publish, print and mail the ASRT journals, Radiologic Technology and Radiation Therapist.
Starting with the 2022 March/April Radiologic Technology issue and the Spring Radiation Therapist issue, new Directed Readings and quizzes will be published in our online CE Library. Members who prefer to have printed Directed Readings mailed to their home may opt-in to the Directed Reading Supplement. Each edition contains six CE articles and is published twice annually.
The journals will continue to publish peer-reviewed articles, short reports and the latest case studies.

FAQ Taking DRs out of the Journal

Why is ASRT removing the Directed Readings from the journals?

Each radiologic technologist has unique continuing education needs based on their certifications, state licensure rules, facility, regulatory and ARRT Continuing Qualifications Requirements. Delivering CE options by mail every other month no longer meets our members’ diverse CE requirements. The online delivery of CE will better serve the needs of ASRT members today and in the future.

Will I continue to receive my ASRT journal?

Yes. ASRT will continue to publish, print and mail the ASRT journals, Radiologic Technology and Radiation Therapist.
Will there be any CE in Radiologic Technology or Radiation Therapist?

Starting on March 1, 2022, all new Directed Readings will be published exclusively in your online CE Library and will no longer appear in the ASRT’s scientific journals. Occasionally, some of the columns published in the journals will have credit value assigned to them. Quizzes for these columns can be accessed in your online CE Library as well.
I still have copies of Radiologic Technology or Radiation Therapist. How do I earn CE credit from the Directed Readings in these issues?

The Directed Readings in the issues you still have will be available in your CE Library, as long as they are not expired.
What happens to the Directed Readings saved in my account?

The credit value of the Directed Readings in your account will roll into your new bank of CE credits.
Where can I find the CE Library and how does it work?

Click the “Access CE Library” button on the ASRT homepage or type asrt.org/CELibrary into your browser’s address bar. Alternatively, click the “Access CE Library” button from your My ASRT account. Watch this video to tour the CE Library and learn how to find courses to meet your CE needs.
How do I redeem the credits in my CE credit bank?

Members can redeem their credits in their online CE Library (asrt.org/CELibrary) of more than 450 courses as well as monthly ASRT Live® webcasts.
How many credits are added to my CE credit bank each membership year?

Members will get access to 17 credits in their CE credit bank each membership year. Members with the Premium option will get access to 20 CE credits in their CE credit bank each membership year.
I have the traditional CE plan. Will credits automatically be added to my account on Feb. 8?

If the transition to the single CE model takes place outside your normal renewal cycle, the number of additional credits added to your CE credit bank is prorated based on the number of months remaining in your current membership year. If you are within one month of your renewal date, 17 credits will be added to your CE credit bank immediately upon renewal.
