Charges
The primary responsibilities are to assist the ASRT Government Relations and Public Policy Department with state and
national legislative issues, provide advocacy support and education for the local affiliates and gather and
disseminate information to and from their developed networks to the larger Ambassadors for R.T. Advocacy and ASRT
staff.
Duties
The Ambassadors shall:
- Develop regional networks to collect and disseminate legislative information.
- Develop relationships with relevant state board members and legislative committee members through meetings and phone calls even when there is no active legislation impacting the profession.
- Maintain Advocacy Network “beat bushes when there is a call to action.”
- Serve as content experts for ASRT Government Relations staff.
- Mentor ASRT members in state to ensure volunteer succession planning.
- Promote and defend the ASRT positions regarding advocacy.
- Submit Mid-Year and Annual Report on Activities and Contacts to track active participation.
Time Commitment
The Ambassadors shall:
- Meet at least four times per year to discuss the state of standards.
- If already attending ASRT Annual Conference, volunteer at the Advocacy Booth in the Expo Hall.
Travel Commitment
The Ambassadors shall:
- Attend imaging partner meetings impacting the state (i.e. Michigan Ambassador attends Michigan state calls for the ARRT rules effort).
- Represent ASRT Advocacy at Affiliate State conferences.
Skills
- Must be able to communicate well with others and be passionate about advancing and elevating the medical imaging and radiation therapy profession.
- Must be willing to promote the medical imaging and radiation therapy profession and patient safety as it aligns with the ASRT Advocacy agenda and encourage others to do the same.
- Prior knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes is preferred.
Criteria:
Ambassador for R.T. Advocacy appointees shall:
- Be an ASRT member.
- Have proven commitment to advocacy work.
- Have previous participation in ASRT Advocacy work.
